I will not surrender, MP Ndindi Nyoro dares police to arrest him over Muranga chaos

Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro has vowed not to surrender to police over the political violence that left two people dead and scores injured in Kenol, Murang’a on Sunday.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break show on Tuesday morning, Nyoro strongly distanced himself from the chaos insisting he would not honour the summons issued by Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to record a statement over the violence.

“I am not surrendering to police and I will not be used by murderers to cleanse their mess. They can track my phone…they know my whereabouts… They know for sure I was not involved. If you need me, I am here at home, please come and arrest me,” said Nyoro.

The Kiharu MP and his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome, who were summoned by the police IG as main suspects into the violence, defied orders to appear at the Nyeri Regional DCI headquarters on Monday.

The duo accused police boss Mutyambai of being used to settle political scores, insisting that their political rivals were behind the chaos.

“I have not received any summon I have only read twitter handles and I want to tell Matiang’i, Kinoti Mutyambai and Kibicho that I am busy… I have no time to come record statements,” said Nyoro on Monday.

On her part Alice Wahome said: “Allow democracy to thrive. Kenyans have shed blood for us to get to where we are. I will not be used to sanitise the system who do not have any right to summon me.”
