I am the Luhya spokesperson, declares ODMs Edwin Sifuna

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has declared himself the Luhya community spokesperson.

Sifuna, who unsuccessfully vied for the Nairobi senatorial seat last year, says despite losing the seat, he garnered more votes compared to what Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Watangula — the self-declared Luhya kingpins — had previously secured.

Sifuna was speaking on Sunday at Osogo ACK Church in Migori County where he presided over a funds drive.

“I received over 700, 000 votes, I am the only Luhya leader to ever receive that number of votes, even Musalia Mudavadi ran for president and received only 300, 000 votes,” said Sifuna.

“Therefore, if Sifuna does not say it, then the Luhyas have not said it.”

He also assured supporters that the ODM party would field a candidate in the 2022 presidential race.

“Since the inception of ODM, we have never gone into an election without fielding candidates for all the elective positions. This is a big party,” said Sifuna.

“And it is not going to change, in 2022 ODM will have a presidential candidate.”

Sifuna further asked ODM members who have already expressed their support for candidates in other parties to resign in writing.

He added that the party would not entertain people who are not loyal to the party rules and regulations.
