How West Pokot Governor Lonyangapuo became a social media sensation

West Pokot County Governor John Lonyangapuo last month grabbed media headlines over perceived hilarious remarks he made during a public address.

The governor, in a video that went viral, described one of the county’s former MCA aspirants as “Kijana fupi, amenona, round; huwezi jua tumbo ni wapi, mgongo ni wapi…”

Those words took the country, especially the online space, by storm and had Kenyans choking with laughter for weeks thereafter.

So funny were those words that when President Uhuru Kenyatta ran into Governor Lonyangapuo on Monday after condoling with the family of former president Daniel arap Moi following the loss of one of his sons, even the Head of State chimed in and burst into loud laughter.

However, one Twitter user has now gone further to unearth more videos showing that that was just one of the many instances during which Governor Lonyangapuo cracked up his people.

The user, @Kimanzi, has dug up 21 instances during which the West Pokot country chief was at his funniest and compiled into one thread.

Governor Lonyangapuo, if the thread is anything to go by, may just have been forced into the world of social media stardom.
