Help govt fight terror, Uhuru tells northeastern residents

President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Garissa and Isiolo counties residents to assist authorities flush out Al-Shabaab sleeper cells in Boni Forest by furnishing them with information.

Speaking during a vote-hunt tour of  North Eastern region, President Kenyatta told the locals that the dusk-to- dawn curfew imposed in Lamu, Garissa and Tana River Counties is necessary to combat the extremists who are a threat to national security.

“I urge you to work with us so that we can crack down on these criminals who are hiding in Boni Forest. Operation Linda Boni Forest is critical to national security. Once we flush them out we will lift the curfew as it is derailing development in this region,” President Kenyatta said.

The Head of State urged residents of the two counties to embrace six-piece voting system and vote for him on August 8.

“We have built roads and appointed senior government officials from this region, I urge you to vote for me and Jubilee candidates so that we can continue with the work we have started,” Uhuru said.

“Our competitors have shown that they have no faith whatsoever in our local institutions and have continued to paint the state in bad light whenever they meet representatives of foreign nations. How can they govern a system they have no faith in?” Ruto posed to the crowd.

DP Ruto urged the residents to re-elect President Kenyatta because of the various development projects that the Jubilee government has initiated in the four years they have been in power.
