Governors Nanok, Obado, Wambora leading in latest polls

If elections were to be held today, Governors Josphat Nanok, Okoth Obado, Kenneth Lusaka and Martin Wambora of Turkana, Migori, Bungoma and Embu counties respectively would easily retain their seats, according to a new opinion poll released by research firm, Infotrak.

In the latest poll, Governor Nanok of ODM has an approval rating of 77.7% against his only competitor, Senator John Munyes of Jubilee who has a rating of 14.3%.

Despite Governor Lusaka ditching the opposition to join Jubilee Party, he still enjoys a popularity rating of 52.2%, with Ford Kenya Party’s Wycliffe Wangamati having an approval rating of 31.9%.

The polls suggest that Governor Okoth Obado would easily trounce his competitor Ochilo Oyacko with a popularity rating of 71.9% against his closest competitor at 20.7%.

In Embu, Governor Wambora who has survived three impeachment motions against him during his first reign leads with 48.4%, Senator Lenny Kivuti of Maendeleo Chap Chap comes a distant second with 26.2% while Party of National Unity (PNU) Kithinji Kiragu has an approval rating of 0.8%.

The polls, however, suggest that Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka would lose his seat to former Secretary to the Cabinet, Francis Kimemia. Kimemia has an approval rating of 66.7% while Waithaka has a 9.3% approval rating.

The opinion poll, released in Nairobi on Thursday, July 27, was conducted from July 10 to July 15 this year.
