Governor Ruto criticises DP Rutos political moves

Mashinani Party leader and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has criticised Deputy President William Ruto over his apparent negligence of Rift Valley’s political interest.

Speaking in West Pokot on Saturday, Ruto said that the DP had ignored voices of reason from the region and focused on his own political interest in the dissolution of United Republican Party (URP) and formation of Jubilee Party.

He further noted that the newly-launched Jubilee Party had no support at the grassroots, saying was aimed at “killing” democracy in the country.

On his part, West Pokot Senator Prof John Lonyangapuo said the region would remain under Kanu despite defections by some of its leaders to Jubilee, including the county Governor Simon Kachapin.

Lonyangapuo called on the residents to register as voters in readiness for the 2017 General Election.

He challenged DP Ruto to desist from hoodwinking the region into joining Jubilee as the only way to gain development.

Former Information and Communications Minister Samuel Poghisio reiterated his interest in vying for West Pokot Senatorial seat on a Kanu ticket calling on the residents not to be swayed into moving to other parties.

Governor Ruto accused Jubilee Government of apparent failure to fulfill pledges made to Kenyans in the run-up to the 2013 elections.

Also present in the meeting was Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ng’eno

The leaders later held two separate rallies at Kaptabuk Secondary School and Kapsait in Pokot South Sub County where they urged locals to reject Jubilee overtures.
