Free transport for voters in Jubilee strongholds

There will be free transport for voters travelling to Murang’a and Nakuru to cast their votes as Jubilee-allied politicians and business operators step up to help President Uhuru Kenyatta win the October 26 repeat election.

Murang’a County has unveiled an initiative dubbed ‘Murang’a Twende TukaVOTE…’ where passengers will only be required to produce their national identity cards and an IEBC confirmation note to ascertain one is a voter in Murang’a to get free transport.

The initiative is sponsored by Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Senator Irung’u Kang’ata and Women Representative Sabina Chege.

In Nakuru, Mololine Services Limited has announced an offer to transport voters to their respective stations in the county. But for Mololine, they will only offer free transport to sick voters who will be granted sick leave by their respective health facilities.

At least ten hospitals including Valley, Evans, Nakuru Level 5, Mediheal, Mercy Mission, War Memorial will each be granted a 14-seater matatu for purposes of ferrying sick voters to their specific polling stations on the election day.

Mololine Services chairperson Njoroge Bumasi said the company has acted to a clarion call by President Uhuru Kenyatta for maximum voter turn-out, adding that vehicles will be deployed tomorrow (Wednesday, October 25).
