Four arrested in Kasarani for allegedly conning foreigner Ksh.29M in fake gold deal

Detectives from the Special Service Unit (SSU) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday arrested four suspects at Kasarani, Nairobi County, for obtaining money by false pretenses.

The four are Eric Otieno, Antony Achieng, George Kinuthia Mbugua and Arthur Caleb Otieno.

The suspects are said to have obtained over Ksh.29 Million from an unsuspecting client on the pretext that they would sell him gold.

According to detectives, they approached a foreign national pretending to be DCI officers on diverse dates between April 1, 2019 to February 28, 2020 on a mission to sell him gold on behalf of an alleged senior DCI Officer.

The suspects reportedly continued demanding more money from the same victim up to the time of their arrest.

The four are presently being held in lawful custody awaiting further processing for arraignment on Monday.
