Form Three student, 18, arrested after attacking three teachers at Rwambiti School

Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a Form Three student who attacked several teachers at Rwambiti Secondary school on Tuesday.

According to the Gichugu Sub-county Police commander Anthony Mbogo who confirmed the incident, the student had refused to be searched before he began beating up teachers.

Additional reports say the student had also tried to cause a riot in the school.

Citizen Digital understands that the student was nabbed with a phone by the teacher on duty, but he quickly hid it and refused to be frisked.

When the teacher attempted to search him, the student started raining blows on him, forcing other teachers to come to the rescue.

The three teachers had a hard time restraining the student who had at the time broken a window in the classroom.

Eventually, he was subdued and taken to the deputy principal’s office where police officers were hailed.

Upon interrogation, the student confessed that he was under the influence of bhang .

According to the school deputy principal, David Munga, the 18-year-old student was retaking the Form Three year after flunking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (KCSE)

The police boss confirmed that James Njeru is being held at Kianyaga police station

“The Deputy principal talked with the parent who are civil servants, but they said they want the boy jailed because he is indisciplined,” mbogo said

The police boss said the student will be charged with assaulting teachers, creating riot in the school and destroying school property valued at Ksh 3000.
