Family in Ugunja cries foul after daughter was reportedly molested at a private hospital

A family in Ugunja sub-county is now crying for justice after their 14-year-old daughter was allegedly molested by a health worker at a private hospital in Ugunja town.

Nicodemus Odemba says that his daughter who is a standard seven pupil had gone to the facility where she was molested by a health worker only identified as Allan.

The agitated father, who now cries for justice, told Radio Ramogi that his daughter had been admitted on February 29, 2020.

According to the pupil, the suspect allegedly went into her room on March 1 and indecently touched her privates under the disguise of testing her temperature.

She added that the following day on March 2, the health worker returned and inserted his fingers into her private parts, causing her serious bleeding.

The matter was reported to the Ugunja police station and subsequently to the office of the sub-county Director of children affairs Eunice Atieno who confirmed that her office received the report and is currently working with the police in the investigations.

When contacted for comment, the Director of Home ground hospital Victor Odhuno Nyanga denied the allegations, saying the family of the girl was out to taint the facility’s name.

He refused to comment on the matter further, including the whereabouts of the suspect saying the incident was already under investigation.

The minor has since been pulled from the facility and is recovering at home.

Officers handling the case at the Ugunja police station told Radio Ramogi that they are investigating the matter before taking any action.
