Former Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) and Mumias West Parliamentary candidate Richard Echesa has once again made headlines after allegedly assaulting a journalist who was covering the polls at Mumias Township polling station in Kakamega County on Tuesday.

Echesa is reported to have turned physical on the Nation journalist after he noticed her taking photographs at the said polling station.

As he reprimanded the journalist, a bunch of goons allegedly surrounded her and forced her to delete the said photographs from her phone.

Thereafter, Echesa left the grounds in a vehicle that did not have any visible registration number.

The Nation reports that after Echesa's exit, a commotion ensued between boda boda operators who were scrambling over some cash left behind in a black purse.

The female journalist was warned against taking videos that captured the melee lest she loses her mobile phone.
