DPP Haji arrests one of his own over theft of Ksh.7M fuel lubricants

William Osoro, a senior official in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has been charged with theft of Ksh7.9m fuel lubricants.

A statement from DPP Noordin Haji said the Head of the Administration Division was found culpable for misappropriation of public funds through mismanagement of fuel consumption.

“The suspect will be charged with abuse of office and stealing by a person employed in public service,” Haji said in a statement released on Friday.

Osoro appeared in court, was charged and released on Ksh.600,000 bail.

The ODPP received an internal audit report in April last year concerning alleged corruption in the Transport Division.

A letter from the Kenya National Audit Office followed soon after in February 2018 reiterating the claim.

Haji later forwarded the report to the DCI and investigations were launched  into the damning allegations against William Osoro.

“After independent thorough review of the evidence submitted, I find there is sufficient evidence to warrant immediate prosecution of the said officer,” the statement from Haji reads in part.
