Dozens injured in Timboroa accident after bus rolls

Over 40 passengers were injured after a bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Timboroa on the Eldoret-Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

Koibatek Police Commander Maxwel Agoro said 26 people sustained serious injuries while 17 had slight bruises.

“Police officers and good samaritans rushed them to Mercy Mission Hospital in Eldama.Ravine,” he said.

The exact number of passengers who were onboard the vehicle is however yet to be established.

The bus was traveling from Bungoma when the Timboroa accident occurred at around 8:30am.

One of the passengers, Jacob ole Ngape, said the driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle before it rolled twice and landed in a ditch.

Police said the driver and turn boy fled from the scene but officers are pursuing leads for their arrest.

Emma Koech, the matron at Mercy Mission Hospital, told journalists that some of the passengers were brought in with spinal, head and face injuries.

Other operations at the facility were interrupted as medics rushed to attend to the accident victims.

15 people have since been referred to other hospitals in Eldoret and Nakuru counties.

They include Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Mediheal Hospital and the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital.
