DCI Amin says he 'may not always pick all calls' after sharing his phone number
The National Police Service (NPS) now says
that newly sworn-in Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed
Amin will not always be reachable on phone despite making his mobile number
public.
The statement from NPS comes after Amin gave out his phone number to members of the public on October
19, 2022 after taking oath of office to facilitate what he termed as "for
ease of engagement."
According to NPS, despite efforts by members
of the public to reach the new DCI boss on phone, he will not always receive all
the calls owing to his busy schedule.
The police service however insisted that Amin
will endeavor to return all missed calls should he get the opportunity to do
so.
"The Director wishes to thank all
Kenyans who have and continue to reach out to him over one issue or the
other," NPS said in the statement.
"We also note that owing to his busy
schedule and exigencies of service, the Director may not always be in a
position to either pick all calls made to him or return them promptly but would
always strive to whenever time allows."
NPS likewise urged Kenyans to continue using
its toll free numbers to report any crimes or emergencies.
"We therefore appeal to members of the
public seeking redress over urgent matters to continue reaching out to police
through our toll free numbers 999,911,112 and #fichuakwadci 0800722203,"
said NPS.
