CS Wamalwa sued over Athi Water board appointment

Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has been sued over the revocation of the appointment of Bancy Wambura Njuguna as Athi Water Services board member and director.

In her suit, Ms Wambura says the government gazetted the revocation of her appointment on the 17th of this month, and published the name of Margaret Mumbi Mwago as her replacement as the board’s director.

Bancy has termed Wamalwa’s action as unfair and unconstitutional, and wants Mumbi’s appointment revoked, claiming the decision was made on the 30th of last month but only communicated on the 17th of this month.

In the certificate of urgency application at the Milimani Law Courts, Bancy argues she was forced to resign from a well-paying job at Kenya Wildlife Service, which was her sole source of income to accept the appointment to the board.

Justice Joseph Onguto has certified the matter as urgent and set the hearing of the case for Tuesday next week.
