CS Matiangi orders all Nairobi Govt officials to support NMS boss Badi

As the leadership changes in the county assembly took effect, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Friday ordered all national government administration officials in Nairobi to work closely with Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Major Mohamed Badi.

In what appears to be measures to ensure NMS works without the usual bureaucracy, the officials from the regional coordinator to sub chiefs in Nairobi are expected to ensure implementation of NMS projects.

After close to two hours of a closed door meeting styled as an introduction of NMS boss Badi to national government administration officials in Nairobi, the orders seemed clear.

“They have been given marching orders as we start the new financial year to derive a framework on how to work together with NMS,” said Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

An indication of the national government’s intentions to ensure the Nairobi Metropolitan Services implements projects expeditiously.

“Service delivery to the people of Kenya starting with service delivery to the people of Nairobi,” sad CS Matiang’i.

The NMS Director General termed the move as a shot in the arm for his administration, further promising to turn a deaf ear to Nairobi politics going forward.

“We are now going to work to make Nairobi better in terms of infrastructural development and cleanliness,” said Badi.

The order means that chiefs and sub chiefs within Nairobi will be on the forefront to ensure NMS workers are accorded a conducive environment to operate.

This coming on the backdrop of a truce between the NMS boss and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko where they promised to complement each other.
