COVID-19: Kenya records 7 more deaths, 210 new cases

Seven more patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in Kenya pushing the number of fatalities recorded so far to 725.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Health also announced that 210 more people have tested positive from a sample size of 3,065 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 38,923 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.

“Our cumulative tests are now 555,711. From the cases, all are Kenyans except 5 who are foreigners. 141 are males and 69 females. The youngest is a five-year old child while the oldest is 95,” reads the statement.

At the same time, 91 people have recovered from the disease, 77 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 14 have been discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 26,114.

The 210 new cases are distributed in the Counties follows; Nakuru 75, Nairobi 37, Mombasa 15, Trans Nzoia 13, Kakamega 11, Kilifi 8, Uasin Gishu 8, Kisumu 7, Kiambu 7, Machakos 7, Bungoma 5, Kisii 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Nandi 2, Taita Taveta 1, Kajiado 1, Meru 1, Murang’a 1, Kericho 1, Baringo 1, Laikipia 1, Embu 1, Vihiga 1 and Narok 1.

The 75 cases in Nakuru, are from Naivasha (23), Nakuru East (22), Nakuru West (16), Subukia (9), Rongai (3) and Nakuru North (2).

In Nairobi, the 37 cases are from Westlands (9,) Dagoretti North and Langata (5) cases each, Embakasi East and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi South, Kibra and Makadara (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Kamukunji, Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 15 cases are from Mvita (6), Likoni (4), Jomvu (2), Kisauni, Changamwe and Nyali (1) case each. In Trans Nzoia, the 13 cases are from Saboti (6), Kiminini (4) and Kwanza (3). In Kakamega, the 11 cases are from Butere (5), Lugari (3), Malaya (2) and Lurambi (1).

In Kilifi, the 8 cases are from Malindi (3), Kaloleni (2), Kilifi North, Kilifi South and Magarini (1) case each.

In Uasin Gishu, the 8 cases are from Ainabkoi (3), Kapseret (2), Kesses, Soy and Turbo (1) case each. In Kisumu, the 7 cases are from Kisumu East (3), Kisumu Central (2), Muhoroni and Nyando (1) case each, while the 7 cases in Kiambu, are from Ruiru and Thika (2) cases each, Gatundu South, Juja and Kiambu Town (1) case each.

In Machakos, the 7 cases are from Machakos Town (4) and Athi River (3). In Bungoma, the 5 cases are from Kimi (2), Kanduyi, Mt Elgon and Sinsia (1) case each, while in Kisii, the 3 cases are all from Kitutu Chache South. In Elgeyo Marakwet, the 2 cases are all from Keiyo South, while the 2 cases in Nandi, are from Chesumei and Mosop (1) case each.

The case in Talta Taveta, is from Voi, the case in Kajlado, is from Kajiado North, the case in Meru, is from Imenti South, the case in Murang’a, is from Kiharu, the case in Kericho, is from Ainamoi, the case in Baringo, is from Baring North, the case in Laikipia, is from Laikipia West, the case in Embu, is from Manyatta, the case in Vihiga, is from Emuhaya and the case in Narok is from Trans Mara West.
