COVID-19: Kenya records 337 new cases, 53 recoveries, 3 deaths

The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that 337 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of a sample size of 2,924 tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total confirmed infections to 109,164.

From the cases, 311 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners; 198 are males and 139 are females, while the youngest is a one-month-old infant and the oldest is 85.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, revealed that 53 patients recovered from the coronavirus; 32 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care while 21 were discharged from various health facilities, taking total recoveries to 87,623.

CS Kagwe however also noted that three patients succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,879.

The 337 cases were recorded across various counties, namely: Nairobi 267, Kiambu 27, Kajiado 6, Mombasa 5, Nyeri 5, Laikipia 4, Nakuru 4, Machakos 4, Kisii 2, Vihiga 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Makueni 2, Meru 1, Murang’a 1, Siaya 1, Kisumu 1, Garissa 1, Kilifi 1 and Isiolo 1.

The 267 cases in Nairobi are from Kibra (28), Lang’ata (27), Dagoretti North (22), Embakasi East (19), Embakasi West (18), Makadara and Westlands (17) cases each, Embakasi Central and Kamukunji (15) cases each, Embakasi South (14), Kasarani and Roysambu (13) cases each, Embakasi North and Starehe (11) cases each, Dagoretti South (10), Ruaraka (9) and Mathare (8).

In Kiambu, the 27 cases are from Kiambu Town (7), Ruiru (6), Kiambaa (4), Kikuyu and Thika (3) cases each, Gatundu North, Gatundu South, Juja and Limuru (1) case each. In Kajiado the 6 cases are from Kajiado North (4) and Kajiado East (2). In Mombasa the 5 cases are from Mvita (4) and Changamwe (1).

In Nyeri, the 5 cases are from Mathira East and Nyeri Central (2) cases each, Mukurweini (1). In Laikipia, all the 4 cases are from Laikipia East. In Nakuru, the 4 cases are from Nakuru East (2), Gilgil and Naivasha (1) case each.

In Machakos, the 4 cases are from Athi River (2), Kangundo and Mwala (1) case each.

The 2 cases in Kisii are from Kitutu Chache South and Nyaribari Masaba (1) case each, the 2 cases in Uasin Gishu are all from Ainabkhoi, the 2 cases in Vihiga are all from Vihiga and the 2 cases in Makueni are all from Makueni.

The case in Meru is from Imenti Central, the case in Murang’a is from Kiharu, the case in Siaya is from Ugenya, the case in Kisumu is from Kisumu Central, the case in Garissa is from Garissa Town, the case in Kilifi is from Kaloleni and the case in Isiolo is from Isiolo Town.
