COVID-19 in Kenya: Death toll hits 1,545 after 14 more succumb

The death toll from COVID-19 in Kenya has risen to 1,545 after 14 more patients succumbed to the virus.

Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi however noted that 425 had been discharged in the past 24 hours after full recovery.

“We are doing everything to ensure no life is lost. We are doing everything to ensure no life is lost. We will not tire in protecting the lives of healthcare workers. We are doing all to ensure they are well taken care of,” Dr. Mwangangi said.

She said the ministry has noted the concerns raised by health care workers and assured them that they will be addressed.

The CAS expressed gratitude to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) for calling off their strike and further appealed to all health care workers to do the same.

In regards to the latest coronavirus cases, Dr. Mwangangi said 521 more people had tested positive from a sample of 4721.

Kenya’s coronavirus caseload now stands at 89,100.

The CAS said revealed that 1,102 are still admitted to various health facilities in the country while 8016 are under home-based care and 71 are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
