Court frees late Tecra Muigais boyfriend Omar Lali on Ksh.300K bond

The Magistrate’s court in Lamu has released Omar Lali Omar, the boyfriend of deceased Keroche breweries heiress Tecra Muigai, who died after a fall early this month.

Lamu Principal Magistrate Allan Sitati declined to continue holding Lali after the expiry of a 21-day detention period that ended on Tuesday.

The court session held via video link on Tuesday and Wednesday saw the accused person freed on a Ksh.300,000 bond.

On May 4, 2020, Magistrate Sitati allowed police to detain Lali for 21 days at the Lamu Police Station to enable police conclude investigations into Tecra’s death.

Tecra, who died on May 3, 2020, was laid to rest on May 16, 2020 in a private ceremony at the family’s home in Naivasha.

Her boyfriend Omar Lali with whom she is reported to have been with on the ill-fated day was arrested and arraigned in connection with the incident.
