Council of Eminent Persons of Muranga Chairman Joe Kibe is dead

The Council of Eminent Persons of Murang’a has been thrown into mourning following the untimely death of its Chairman Joe Kibe.

The real estate mogul passed away Wednesday at the Aga Khan Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for heart-related conditions.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia condoled with the family describing Kibe as a wise, kind and humble man whose patriotism was unrivaled.

The businessman, also an expert in finance and governance, once served as a Permanent Secretary in the Public Service ministry in Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s administration in the early years post independence.

Joe Kibe carried the vision  of a peaceful, united and prosperous Murang’a County as he led the Council of Eminent Persons.

Kibe took over as Chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons of Murang’a following the death of Charles Rubia.

The tycoon, who lived a quiet life, was the father of Cpt. Gilbert Kibe, the Director General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

His industrious work life has seen him serve in various capacities.

He once chaired the Kenya Horticulture Crops Development Authority that was transformed into the horticultural crops directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Authority (AFFA).

His expertise in financial investment and corporate governance saw him appointed in various private sector companies as director.

Until his death, he chaired the Council of Eminent Persons of Murang’a where he served alongside Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman Dr. SK Macharia, Dr. D. Nyamu Njoka, Peter Munga, Bishop Gideon Githiga, Maina Wanjigi, Amb. Solomon Karanja, Muthoni Likimani, Nicholas Ng’ang’a and Prof. Lucy Irungu.

The council was formed in 2015 and registered as a company limited by guarantee in 2018.

Its mandate includes building and sustaining broad political consensus, peace, harmony and social cohesion among the people of Murang’a County and the Republic of Kenya.
