Citizen TVs Hassan Mugambi wins prestigious award

Citizen TV journalist Hassan Mugambi has bagged the Outstanding Media Security Investigative Journalist 2019 award.

Mugambi was feted by the Protective and Safety Association of Kenya (PROSAK) for his outstanding and consistent coverage of security matters in the country.

He becomes the third recipient of the Outstanding Media Security Investigative Journalist award since its establishment in 2017.

In 2017, Mugambi, who doubles up as a news anchor and security reporter at Royal Media Services-owned Citizen TV, emerged second in the battle for the award.

He was handed the award on Tuesday by the National Chairman Protective and Safety Association of Kenya, Enock Makanga.

PROSAK issues awards in various categories depending on the security and safety professionals experience and qualifications.

Winners are picked through a selection process by the association’s awards service board which monitors performance in the various categories.

Mugambi’s over five-year experience in coverage of security matters has seen him file stories from the battle front in Somalia where Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have been fighting Al Shabaab terrorists under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

With over eight years journalistic experience, Mugambi has carved out a niche for himself to be among the renowned security affairs journalists in the country.
