Bishop Korir laid to rest in Eldoret church

Catholic Archbishop Cardinal John Njue has lauded the fallen Eldoret Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir as an icon, whose legacy of uniting Kenyans will forever be remembered.

Speaking during a final mass at the Eldoret Sports Club, Njue said the late Bishop died when Kenya really needed him.

Cardinal Njue also noted the great role that Bishop Korir played during the 2007/2008 post-election violence, citing his love for peace as a tool every Kenyan should embrace.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, Cabinet Secretaries Henry Rotich and Eugene Wamwala, Governors, Senators and MPs are among dignitaries attending the mass.

The late Bishop will be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Church in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County this afternoon.
