Benson Kibue appointed new police operations boss

The immediate former Nairobi Police boss Benson Kibue has been appointed new police operations head, just two days after being left out in top cops reshuffle.

Joseph Ashimala has been appointed as the deputy Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss while Jacinta Kinyua takes over as the head of traffic department.

Philip Ndolo has been appointed as the new head airports security. The reshuffles – which started on Wednesday, according to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery are aimed at improving the efficiency of security operations in the country.

The Wednesday shake-up affected several county commanders and county commissioners with Japheth Koome becoming the new Nairobi County Commander replacing Benson Kibui.

Boinett and Nkaissery also nullified postings made by Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi, who was on Tuesday appointed an Ambassador of Kenya by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Godfrey Mwaura was appointed new Nairobi County Commissioner, replacing Shadrack Mwadime.

In Central Kenya, Bernard Kinyua will serve as the new Kirinyaga County Commissioner, Fredrick Shisia, who was the Wajir County Commissioner is now the Nyandarua County Commissioner, Alex Nkoyo Letoya, who was serving as Mandera’s County Commissioner, was moved to Kiambu County.

Others who were affected in the shakeup are Amos Gathecha, former Nakuru County Commissioner, who was replaced by Joshua Nkatha, former Narok County Commissioner Kassim Farrah moved to Homa Bay with his position taken up by Magu Mutindika.
