48-year-old man confesses to killing Kirinyaga MCA’s mother-in-law

Police officers in Kirinyaga County are holding a 48-year-old man who reportedly confessed to killing Mutira MCA David Kinyua Wangui’s mother-in-law.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kirinyaga Central Police Commander Doly Odour said Francis Muriithi was arrested in his house after coming out of hiding.

The police boss said Muriithi even surrendered a bloody panga that he supposedly used to hack the deceased and was taken to the Kerugoya Police Station where he is being held.

The suspect is said to have attacked the deceased, 49-year-old Joyce Kaira Muthiru, on Wednesday last week at 7pm while she was preparing supper.

Ms. Muthiru was then rushed to the Kerugoya Referral Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mutira Ward Representative David Kinyua Wangui is mostly recognized in Kirinyaga County for tabling the impeachment motion against Governor Anne Waiguru in June this year for gross violation of the constitution.

A month later, his homestead was raided by unknown people during which two jerrycans of petrol were left behind by the assailants after his farmhand raised alarm over a huge fire in the cattle shed.
