37-year-old man hacked to death at drinking den in Migori

Police in Kuria West sub-county, Migori County, are holding a suspect accused of killing a 37-year-old man at a local drinking den in Nyabirongo village.

Kuria West sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Kevin Gichaine Nyamohanga, allegedly hacked Alex Nchama to death after a fight erupted between them.

Mr. Kimaiyo said the deceased was hacked severally on the head and died on the spot.

The police boss said preliminary investigations established that the deceased and the suspect engaged in a quarrel for some minutes around 10pm before the fatal attack.

The suspect was arrested by police officers in his hideout a few metres from the scene of crime, where a blood stained panga reportedly used in the attack was also recovered.

The suspect is presently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court, as further investigations continue pending autopsy.
