25 Kirinyaga MCAs threaten to impeach Governor Waiguru again

25 County Assembly of Kirinyaga MCAs  have issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Ann Waiguru to pay county government employees.

If the payments will not have been made in 7 days, the MCAs have threatened to table an impeachment motion against the governor.

Led by the County Assembly Chief Whip Pius Njogu, the MCAs said County Government employees have not received their salaries for two months.

David Mathenge, the Baragwi MCA said over 100 health workers who were reinstated after the 2019 health worker have not been paid despite the Assembly passing Ksh. 1.5 billion for their salaries.

The 25 MCAs out of the 33 MCAs who voted against Waiguru ‘s 2020/2021 Ksh 5.6 billion memorandum said Waiguru has seven days to pay the county government employees and health workers failure she will face another impeachment motion.

” We are are ready to impeach again because we have the numbers,” Mutithi ward MCA Peter Njomo said.

The MCAs also disclosed that the secret reconciliation talks they have been holding in Nairobi collapsed on Monday.

“We were expecting white smoke, but we can confirm to you, we saw black smoke,” Thiba ward MCA said

In June, Waiguru survived an impeachment after the Senate dismissed the abuse of office and gross misconduct-centered motion.

The tabled by Mutira Ward MCA David Kinyua Wangui failed to prove the allegations sufficiently, according to the Senate Committee.
