100 illegally acquired guns found in Narok

At least 100 illegally acquired guns were impounded in Kilgoris Constituency, Narok County in the recent past, local leaders have said.

The leaders applauded the residents for cooperation in disarmament of illegal weapons saying they stood to benefit when security is contained.

Speaking at the area CDF offices on Friday, area legislator Gideon Konchella, accompanied by Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Mohammed Noor noted remarkable improvement in security and pledged to work with other stakeholder s to arrest the remaining petty crimes in the area.

Noor noted that intercommunity conflict had also been contained and there was peaceful coexistence at the border points.

He revealed appointment of 20 local elders to meet with the committee on building bridges, soon, in a bid to prevent perennial conflicts that have been witnessed during electioneering period in various parts of the country.

Konchella appealed to the residents to continue cooperating with the security apparatus in saying it will translate to improved development in the area.

He noted that charcoal burning had reduced drastically and reforestation was taking place.

The leaders also sent stern warning to parents who have not enrolled their children to secondary school saying they will face full force of the law.

The DCC noted that Kilgoris constituency was leading in the County with the highest number of primary to secondary transition, with only 34 percent remaining due to school fees issues.

He said distribution of the CDF bursary to the very needy cases will raise the number.

Konchella said the bursary was distributed according to the number of the deserving population per ward.
