Gospel musician Ruth Matete grilled for 6 hours at DCI HQ over husband’s death

Ruth Matete, a gospel musician, was on Tuesday grilled for six hours at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters over her husband’s death.

Citizen TV has learnt that homicide detectives accompanied her to collect samples from the house which is now being treated as a crime scene.

The singer had recorded another statement with DCI detectives four days ago.

Her husband, John Apewajoye, sustained burn injuries at the home on March 30 and was rushed to Shallom Hospital then transferred to the high dependency unit at Bellevue Hospital.

The 42-year-old pastor however succumbed to his injuries 12 days later.

Ruth announced his death on her Facebook page saying: “My husband Beloved John Apewajoye has gone to be with the Lord. I humbly ask for your prayers during this difficult time.”

They had been married for four months. The Tusker Project Fame winner has since deleted her social media pages.

Reports further indicate that she is suing Bellevue Hospital located in South C.

According to Ruth’s lawyer Robert Odanga, the hospital has a case to answer over how they handled the patient.

Ruth is also said to be suing the supplier of the gas cylinder over the fire that burnt her husband.

She filed a complaint at Athi River Police Station under OB number 17/16/4/20.

However, a video that emerged on social media from a Nigerian identified as Jessey Mc Jessiey claims that Ruth played a role in her husband’s death.
