Coronavirus: This American DJ held a concert online that was ‘attended’ by 40K people

The novel coronavirus may be spreading rapidly world over and increasingly causing panic but that has not stopped the party from continuing.

With numerous governments shutting down bars and advising their citizens to stay home, popular American DJ D-Nice seems to have found a way around this and keep the music going.

DJ D-Nice, real name Derrick Jones, has since Wednesday last week taken the party to his Instagram live where he has continued to entertain his fans around the world right at the comfort of their living rooms.

His biggest set however came on Friday and was viewed and commented on live by over 40,000 people on the social networking site including renowned American superstars such as Jennifer Lopez, Drake, Naomi Campbell, Diddy, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, and T.I.

The Friday online party, aptly christened, Homeschoolin’, ran for a jaw-dropping nine hours; during which he played both new and old hits, repeating absolutely no song twice the entire time.

At various instances during the stream, DJ D-Nice would give shout outs to health care workers currently working nonstop to rid the country of Covid-19.

According to the New York Times, DJ D-Nice began the initiative after having most of his scheduled concerts canceled following the spread of the coronavirus.

“Sitting at home during this quarantine, I started to feel empty. There is nothing like playing the music and feeling the music,” said the 49-year-old.

“He was playing amazing records, but also made it so that an average Joe like myself feels like they are partying with Mary J. Blige,” Jose Morales, a club owner, told the publication.

“All these people logged on and you really felt like you were partying with them in the same room.”

The United States has recorded at least 20,000 positive cases of the coronavirus, with 266 deaths.
