In January this year, the Daily Nation reported that more Kenyans are taking up earning money from YouTube videos.

They attract a lot of viewership which in turn brings in revenue through advertisements.

A study from United States International University (USIU) on social media consumption in Kenya, showed that YouTube is the fastest growing platform after Facebook and Whatsapp combined.

Memes are funny images, clips or videos typically humorous in nature that are copied and shared through various apps via the internet.

Meme makers create them depending on what is trending.

For instance, 9GAG allows users to upload their own photos and videos to the site and search for what’s trending in order to make a meme.

CNN reports that it is one of the most popular platforms on the internet, drawing 150 million users a month.

9GAG runs ads on the site which have become its biggest source of revenue.

CNBC says as long as you can capture imagination of readers online and entertain them, you are bound to make money.

You also need to build relationships by commenting on other people’s blogs; showing that you are interested in others too.
