The Real Housewives of Nairobi cast has finally been unveiled and KoT have a few things to say
Nairobi has
finally joined the barrage of cities with ‘The Real Housewives’ reality series
under its belt, and Kenyans on Twitter (KoT) – in their usual style – have a
few things to say about the cast of the much-anticipated show.
Nairobi joins a
library of other successful African adaptations such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Lagos, Ghana, Nigeria South Africa, and Abuja.
The cast of Real
Housewives of Nairobi was revealed in a teaser dropped on Friday, and it
features five influential and successful women as they navigate their lavish
lifestyles, relationships and careers in the city.
They include the
following:
She is a serial
entrepreneur and owner of Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa and Polished, with
the latter being a luxury fragrance and skin care shop.
The mother of two
left her law profession behind to pursue modelling and travelling before
venturing into lifestyle and beauty entrepreneurship.
She is a socialite
and entrepreneur who is married to singer Brown Mauzo, with whom they have one
child.
Sidika is one of
Kenya’s most talked about celebrities who runs entrepreneurial ventures in the
Spa and Herbal Tea industries.
She also recently
got into music, like her husband.
She is a luxury
influencer, fashion collector and entrepreneur who established her niche
through luxury vlogging in 2010.
The mother of four
has since founded Simba Maharani, a luxury clothing and shoe line, besides being
an advocate for mental health awareness.
She is an actress
and entrepreneur who is married to Jaguar’s former manager and businessman
Charles Muigai, popularly known as Lugz, with whom they have two daughters.
The youngest of
the five housewives, Kariuki is sassy, bold and unapologetic about who she is.
Currently, she is
also starring in the Showmax Original drama series Single Kiasi.
She is an interior
designer, author, business owner, rally driver and luxury safari curator.
Christoffersen is
the founder of Lioness Rally, the first women-only rally team in Kenya, and
Lifestyle Nairobi, an artisanal space in Nairobi’s diplomatic hub of Gigiri,
featuring an art gallery, restaurants, a spa, organic shops and fashion houses.
The
Real Housewives of Nairobi is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios and is
part of The Real
Housewives franchise licensed as a format by NBCUniversal Formats,
which is part of Universal International Studios.
The reality show
will premier on Showmax on February 23, 2023, with new episodes dropping every
Thursday.
Speaking about why
these women were selected to embody the show, Showmax Content Specialist in
East Africa Denise Mwende said; “Each of the ladies has a strong personality
and sure identity of themselves. They are hardworking, affluent, influential
and unapologetic women who are not ashamed to live large and live well because
they have earned it. They're also a representation of the diverse communities
we have in Kenya.”
KoT have since had a few things to say about the cast and their expectations of the show in general, and below are some of the remarks Citizen Digital found when it went digging online:
Only one wealthy woman on real housewives of Nairobi 😭😭😭
Also why do we need a white woman?— Nessa (@vtwits) February 3, 2023
