Sol Generation record label has announced a partnership with Kenyan clothing brand Home 254 to bring street wear merchandise to their fan base.

In a press conference on Thursday morning, Sol Generation made public that two of its signees, Nviiri and Bensoul, both have individual merchandise ready for pre-order through the Home 254 channels, following demand from their fans and stakeholders.

“Under creative arts, fashion is a very critical element for us. Our fans and stakeholders’ demographic have been asking when we will come up with our own merchandise line and branding,” said William Nanjero, the General Manager at Sol Generation.

“We stepped back, brainstormed and decided to work with a partner that believes in what we believe in, a partner who understands the street culture in East Africa. For Bensoul and Nviiri, they now each have their own merchandise line ready for preorder under Home 254."

Bensoul and Nviiri The Storyteller shed light on why the merchandise is important to them and what it means to them and their fans at large.

“I feel like our fans connect with us emotionally. For a fan to purchase something that is made from an artist, it shows that they connect with it in a way that is beyond the merchandise. It’s high time that our fans receive merchandise that is special from us as Sol Generation. It represents being Kenyan and supporting your own,” said Bensoul.

Nviiri, on his part, said, “I honestly believe that launching our merchandise is a way for us to share our art and a piece of us to our fans. Other than our music, we are also sharing other aspects like our design, style and creativity in terms of arts.”

Nanjero informed on how they came to the idea of partnering with Home 254, defining the collaboration as a perfect match and fit.

“We started speaking to Home 254 Founder and CEO Job Brian Jura and it turned out to be a perfect match and fit. We came up with modalities on how we will start working on merchandise together. We eventually came up with four merchandise lines that we decided to launch together,” he said.

Job Brian Jura, speaking at the presser, stated that the Sol Generation merchandise from their clothing brand would give a sense of belonging.

“There are two things that bring people together; music and fashion. What happens when the two come together? It becomes a powerhouse and that is exactly what we are looking to do. For Home 254, it’s a Made in Kenya brand for the youth. When getting the Sol Generation merchandise, you not only feel the music, but also the feeling of belonging,” said Jura.

Home 254 is a Kenyan clothing brand that has made a name for itself in the design of casual wear, both locally and abroad.

The clothing brand specializes in custom-made hoodies, t-shirts, sweatshirts, vests and caps.
