Ray C speaks out on fainting after a recent drug overdose

Tanzanian singer Ray C has dismissed an article that was recently published by a Tanzanian weekly claiming that she fainted after drug overdose.

The publication says the Moto Moto star was spotted “blacked out” alongside her alleged boyfriend after the two abused drugs at Mwananyamala Magengeni area in Dar es Salaam.

The publication further said that a reformed drug addict – who was encouraged to ditch the practice by Ray C – was disappointed by the singer’s relapse.

“I am a reformed drug abuser who Ray C encouraged to go for rehabilitation at a facility in Mwananyamala. I have since been receiving methadone at the rehab centre.

“I pity her (Ray C). It hurts me that the one who introduced me to a rehabilitation centre with a lot of optimism has since gone back to abusing drugs. She (Ray C) causes trouble every time she visits the rehabilitation centre. Sometimes it gets almost impossible for doctors to attend to her,” the source said.

“She often insults and badmouths the nurses. That irritates us because she spoils the rapport we have struck with the medical team. The one who misled her is Frank (alleged boyfriend). Frank was admitted to the rehab centre as a drug addict, he has since gone back to abusing drugs. Since meeting and befriending Ray C, they have been abusing drugs together. They have been engaging in the practice to an extent of fainting and causing chaos everywhere they go,” said a source as quoted by the outlet.

The outlet published photos showing a short-haired woman alongside a man – both looking wasted – and alleged that the pair was that of Ray C and her said boyfriend, Frank.

Well, Ray C has now come out raging fire about the accusations.

“(Name of media outlet withheld), stop misinforming the public. Currently I am preparing for the release of my new song; though I am still on methadone. Nonetheless, I have consulted my lawyer so that I can face these fools. I give them (media outlet) an ultimatum of seven days to rectify their report, failure to which I will face them in court.

“Even the lady in the photos does not resemble me. I don’t have such short hair. The Ray C of today is still the same Ray C of several years ago. I know you are doing this (publishing defamatory stories) to ruin me completely… I won’t be deterred in my quest of fighting drug abuse,” said Ray C on Instagram.

Ray C has been fighting drug addiction for the past three years.

In March, 2014 Ray C confessed that her ex-boyfriend Tanzanian rapper Lord Eyes introduced her to hard drugs.
