Jamaican dancehall ace Nesbeth has made his maiden trip to Kenya.

Nesbeth landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at around 4am Tuesday morning, almost an hour late than he was originally scheduled to land.

The singer, renowned for his smash hit "My Dream", is slated to perform at the Roots Vibe Festival this Saturday at the KICC grounds.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, the singer expressed his excitement at being in Kenya for the first time, praising the 'warm' Kenyan weather and comparing the country's atmosphere and history to that of his native Jamaica.

"Kenya is very much like Jamiaca. The weather is very warm, unlike in Europe, where it was very cold. Also, Jamaicans talk about Kenya alot. Its the country of long distance runners, the country of the Safari and also famous for Kenyatta and Sauti Sol," he said.

The singer, who, over the years, has endured a string of tragic events back at home, still managed to wear a wide smile and exude some exuberance even in the face of close family and business turmoil.

In early 2021, his manager Roland Drummond was bloodily shot in the face in a street altercation and had his gun stolen. He managed to miraculously survive.

Nesbeth has promised his fans a memorable show, noting that he will use the concert to celebrate Bob Marley's death anniversary as well as the upcoming Valentine's Day, promising to treat his female fans to a romantic night filled with love, flowers and candy.

"This is a compact show. I will use the opportunity to celebrate the King of Reggae Bob Marley as well as treating my female fans to a beautiful pre-Valentines show. I'm here to show love but also, I'm not here to steal Kenyan women from their men," he said, jokingly.

The Saturday 11th February event will see Nesbeth share the stage alongside other noteworthy reggae practitioners from Kenya including Ja'Piny, Lyrical Erico, Jefri King, Richie Chris and Blackheart.

Gambian-based turntablist DJ Lashes will keep the crowd grooving all night long to some of the finest tunes straight from Kingston Town.
