Koffi Olomide in Kenya ahead of Koroga Festival
Congolese Lingala maestro Koffi Olomide has jetted into the country ahead of sold-out Koroga Festival that will go down this Sunday at Nairobi’s Arboretum Gardens starting 12 noon.
Accompanied by a 16-person band and dance troupe, Koffi arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday evening.
“Le Grand Mopao” as he is fondly known is a producer, and composer who began his career as a guitarist, but then joined Papa Wemba’s Viva la Musica as a backing vocalist.
He later created his so-called “Tcha Tcho” beat, which became widely popular.
The Koroga Festival is a bi-monthly event and is a great reflection of Kenya’s brilliant and diverse local talent.
Koffi, who is currently riding high on his latest album “Selfie”, last performed in Kenya ten years ago.
