Munyes names new Acting National Oil MD, reverses Nyamongo appointment

Petroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary John Munyes has appointed George Kubai as the interim Managing Director to the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) reversing the agency’s board earlier installation of James Nyamongo.

George Kubai has until his appointment served NOCK as the General Manager for downstream operations.

The appointment follows fresh consultations between the ministry and the corporation’s board which allows for the commencing of the recruitment process of a substantive Managing Director.

Mr. Kubai replaces Maryjane Mwangi who chose to cut ties with NOCK choosing to to extend term bringing her 11-year stay at the firm to a close in a communique to the board dated October 9.

The exit of Maryjane and her subsequent replacement with an interim chief extended the recruitment process  inside State Corporations which also comprises of an active recruitment process for a chief executive post in the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC)

Incidentally, James Nyamongo had been tapped from KPC’s management team where he served as the Facilities and Wayleave General Manager.
