Multichoice offers free upgrades to customers

Digital satellite television services provider Multichoice Kenya has offered free upgrades to its paying subscribers.

The new promotion which runs between January 14 and March 31, 2021 is geared at cushioning customers against the recent rise in subscription fees from tax reversals.

Moreover, the plan is geared at retaining subscribers on the paid service across its DStv and Gotv platforms.

Customers will be upgraded to a second higher package when paying for a package higher than their last active subscription.

“Through the new Step Up campaign, existing DStv customers will see varied programming available across higher packages at the price of a lower package, making great content more accessible to a wide group of customers,” said MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director Nancy Matimu.

The firm has meanwhile cut the price for its premium bouquet to GoTv customers allowing customers make upgrade for less.

The new promotion follows the marginal raise in TV subscription fees which followed the return of value added tax (VAT) to a higher rate of 16 from 14 per cent.
