Since 2006, Keroche Breweries has been locked in various tax related cases with KRA.

On March 11 this year, KRA issued a statement indicating that it had been allowed to collect over KSh 9 billion in taxes from the brewer.

A section of netizens alleged that politicians with shares in the brewing sector were trying to cripple Keroche so that companies associated with them can thrive with minimal competition.

Others urged the government to give the Naivasha-based brewer a less punitive penalty or device a way for the firm can settle the alleged Ksh. 9 billion arrears over time.
