Kenyans to pay more as fuel price goes up

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced a Ksh.3 price increase in the cost of Kerosene starting July 1. Kerosene will now retail at Ksh.87.20 in Nairobi. The move is aimed at phasing out kerosene as a fuel option which will push consumers to towards cleaner fuel options. The commission had proposed a price increase in May which saw Treasury CS Henry Rotich revise excise duty in the Finance Bill 2018. ERC Director General Pavel Oimeke said the changes will be implemented between July 1 to 14. Petrol and diesel prices will however remain constant as last reviewed two weeks.
