Former KDF Chief Samson Mwathethe appointed new KenGen Chairman

Former Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe has been appointed as the new Chairman of electricity generating company KenGen.

Mwathethe replaces Joshua Choge who ended his one-year stint as KenGen’s board Chairman during the company’s 67 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Tuesday.

KenGen board said the former General brings to the table immense wealth of experience in strategy and leadership.

“Under General Mwathethe’s leadership, KenGen is committed to strengthening its stakeholder relations as we continue to build a responsive and dynamic business that takes into account emerging technological advancements and social trends,” said KenGen Managing Director Rebecca Miano.

Mwathethe is the immediate former Chief of Defence Forces having just retired from the position in May this year.

He has previously served on various capacities in the military including stints as the Vice Chief of Defence, the Commander of the Kenya Navy and the Kenya Navy Logistics Commander.

His predecessor Joshua Choge was meanwhile drawn from the management and leadership field where he is currently enrolled in a PHD degree.
