Man and his lover among 8 dead in Nakuru illicit brew incident

Three more people have died after consuming illicit brew at JC village in Bahati, Nakuru County, raising the death toll from the incident to eight.

Nakuru Health Chief Officer Dr. Dan Wainaina confirmed that the three more victims had succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Among the eight deceased persons is the brewer, a woman said to be his lover and six other men.

Five of the victims were confirmed dead on Tuesday.

According to the Nakuru Health CEC Gichuki Kariuki, the victims were picked from various locations some of them being unconscious.

A nurse at the Bahati hospital said the victims started vomiting on Monday evening and complained of stomach aches. Several other survivors are still undergoing treatment.

The victims were being treated for alcohol intoxication and organophosphate poisoning.
