Tyson Otieno scored twice from the penalty spot as Kariobangi Sharks edged Mathare United 2-1 to pile on its FKF Premier League woes on Tuesday.

Curtis Wekesa scored the consolation for Mathare who thus suffered their fifth straight defeat to stay 16th with 22 points after 26 rounds.

They remain in the relegation danger zone with just eight matches left to play while Sharks moved one place into 10th on the standings with 36 points.

An earlier league fixture produced a goal-fest with Wazito FC topping Sofapaka 3-2 thanks to Stephen Bwire’s brace and a Samuel Adebowale winner. Roddy Manga and Addis Panoam were on target for Sofapaka.

The scintillating encounter featuring Sharks against Mathare started on a high note with the hosts going close with a long range effort.

Their attempts were repelled by a resolute Mathare backline who were on a mission to dodge the relegation zone.

The deadlock was broken 22 minutes into the game by Tyson Otieno only for Curtis Wekesa to restore parity four minutes later from the penalty spot.

It ended evens at half time with Otieno having the final say in the second half.
