Nzoia reclaim top spot after Rupia sinks Tusker
Nzoia Sugar scored
two late goals to seal a remarkable 2-1 comeback win over Ulinzi Stars at the
Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi as they reclaimed their place on top of the FKF Premier
League standings.
Nzoia fell behind thanks to Boniface Muchiri’s second half strike and they trailed until
the 84th minute when Boniface Munyendo levelled matters from the penalty spot.
And the
visitors completed the turnaround just four minutes later as teenage forward
Emmanuel Esekon headed home from Hassan Beja’s cross.
Victory took
Nzoia’s points tally for the season to 27, three above champions Tusker FC who
were on the receiving end Elvis Rupia’s brilliant 16-minute hat-trick that
handed Kenya Police a 3-0 win.
Tusker can
draw level on points if they win their game in hand.
Saturday’s
round of fixtures saw the cash-strapped Vihiga Bullets hand over the league’s
first walkover of the current campaign after failing to honour their trip to Sofapaka
FC.
Basement
side Mathare United were crushed 5-1 by the visiting Kakamega Homeboyz with Moses
Shumah and Mike Isabwa grabbing a brace each and Brian Eshihanda also getting
on the scoresheet.
Wazito FC drew 1-1 with KCB FC in the day’s other league game.
