Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, supported by a multi-agency team stationed at Sabaki Bridge, have arrested a man suspected to be a notorious drug trafficker in Malindi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the operation led to the seizure of 38 packages of heroin with an estimated street value of Ksh.14,540,000.

The suspect, identified as Salim Peter Katana, was captured following an operation after law enforcement received a tip-off about his involvement in the drug trade.

Acting on this intelligence, officers moved to raid his hideout in Ngerenya, Kilifi County, where they say they discovered the heroin.

During the search, authorities uncovered 3.635 kilograms of heroin stashed away in one of Katana's bedrooms.

Alongside the drugs, they also recovered Ksh.13,000, suspected to be proceeds from his illegal activities.

Following his arrest, Katana was taken into custody at Malindi Police Station, where he is awaiting further legal action. The police have confirmed that he will face charges related to drug trafficking.

The DCI emphasized that such operations are part of a larger strategy to crack down on the criminal networks that threaten the safety and well-being of communities across the country.

The agency continues to urge members of the public to share information that could aid in eradicating drug trafficking and related crimes.
