28 institutions in Embu and the upper eastern region have received cash and equipment worth 7.5 million shillings from the National Funds for Disabled of Kenya to enhance the lives of those living with disability.

The trustee fund member Michael Kiswili said that the institutions will receive cash and equipment worth 6.6 million shillings while 46 individuals from EmbuCounty will get Ksh 890, 000.

Kiswili said the move was aimed at assisting people living with disability to live independently without relying on hand outs.

The individuals will get sewing machines, saloon equipment, and irrigation equipment which they will use to start businesses as a way of boosting their income and dependency.

Kiswili called upon persons living with disability to take advantage of the opportunity and apply for help saying a majority of them shy from such opportunities.
