Activist Bob Njagi has been arraigned before the Kajiado Law Courts to answer to treason charges stemming from his arrest on June 24, 2026, ahead of the second anniversary of the Gen Z-led protests.

Njagi appeared before Principal Magistrate Edgar Kagoni at the Kajiado Law Courts, represented by a legal team of more than six lawyers, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Orengo, who was joined by Babu Owino and several activists outside the court, condemned the case against Njagi, describing it as politically motivated and an attack on democratic freedoms.

He was then released on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 and directed to report daily to the Kitengela DCI office.

The court further directed Njagi to appear before the High Court in Nairobi on July 14, 2026, for further proceedings.

Njagi had earlier been granted bail by the High Court after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) secured orders to detain him for seven days as investigations continued.
